SPRING 2008 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Chica Luna Productions has openings for five interns. Our internships are unpaid and provide immense hands-on administrative experience and a great introduction to the media industry. We provide college credit where applicable. All applicants must be able to commit to at least 15 hours per week. This is a great opportunity to learn in a supportive, creative and ever-growing progressive environment committed to social justice.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have a great sense of humor, a wonderful phone manner, work well as a part of a fast-moving- multi-tasking team, possess excellent attention to detail, good follow-up and team player skills, lots of energy, interest in progressive politics, a sense of organization, an eagerness to learn, and a willingness to ask questions when needed. Proficiency in current versions of MS Word and Excel software on a PC and MAC is a must while experience in Final Cut Pro and Filemaker Pro maybe required for specific internships described below.

ADMINISTRATIVE/FUND DEVELOPMENT INTERN (2)
Chica Luna Productions seeks an intern to assist its current Director of Development with the completion and packaging of all grant and fundraising proposals for the organization. Responsibilities for the position include:
- Aiding in the preparation of grants (i.e. making copies, hand-delivering
proposals, etc.) - Researching potential funders for the organization
- Assisting in the maintenance of grant database
- Assist in the solicitation and stewarding of potential sponsorships from
corporations, local businesses, etc.
Deadline and detail orientation is essential for a potential candidate. The ability to think categorically and to work independently and cooperatively to achieve common goals is strongly desired. PC computer literacy, familiarity with the World Wide Web, and excellent interpersonal skills is required.
MARKETING, PUBLIC RELATIONS and COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
The marketing, PR and communications intern must be a multi-tasker. Ideal candidate also must be detail-oriented, have a sense of fun and can work with little supervision. Excellent research skills are also valued for this position. Some administrative duties will be required. The intern will have strong writing skills, a wonderful phone manner, excellent attention to detail, good follow-up and team player skills and an interest in journalism, public relations, film and politics. The intern will also need to be able to streamline our online and e-newsletter efforts. The ideal candidate will assist in content production and other duties associated with creating content for and maintaining chicaluna.com. Applicant must have strong writing and editing skills, some knowledge of HTML and familiarity with graphics manipulation.
All applicants must submit writing samples and be prepared to discuss marketing and or public relations campaigns strategies that appeal to them and pitch/present a mock public relations or marketing campaign during their interview. Finalists will be required to draft a mock press release. Knowledge of PowerPoint is a plus but not required. Applicants with portfolios (writing samples, pr campaigns, marketing campaigns from school projects or previous internships) are encouraged to send in PDF format in support of their applications.
EDITING INTERN
The editing Intern will assist in the following tasks:
- Maintenance and upkeep of editing stations and its wires.
- Logging and digitizing footage of all projects for the organization.
- Labeling any DV Tapes that are nameless and keeping an archival track record of them.
- Preparing multiple DVD copies of all Chica Luna Films, promos and events.
- Re-Sizing Photos in Photoshop and preparing them to import into FCP 5.
- Editing of actual Chica Luna programming.
Must be proficient in at least Final Cut Pro 5, IDVD or DVD Studio Pro 4 and Photoshop. Must be able to work individually and meet the organization’s deadlines. Candidate must have excellent communications and technical skills, be organized and meticulous, and be a creative problem solver.
Specific Proficiency in knowing Video Capture and its appropriate Scratch Disk settings. This applies to video and pictures capturing. Detailed at In-house duplication, authoring DVD’s, and creation of DVD Master for outsource delivery.
